Our Family Story
Giuseppe's Pizza was founded in 2003 by Joann and Giuseppe (Joe) Cusumano, but their family's story in Monroe began decades earlier.
Joe came to the United States from Sicily in 1960 at age 19. A few years later, while working in Monroe, he met Joann. They married in 1969 and went on to raise four sons: Salvatore, Giuseppe, Procopio and Antonio.
From the Villa Party Store to Giuseppe's
In 1979, Joe and Joann opened the Villa Party Store at S. Dixie Hwy and Albain Rd in Monroe Township. The store became known for its deli subs, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. With four boys growing up around the family business, work and family life were often one and the same.
After 21 years at the party store, Joe's longtime dream of opening a pizzeria became a reality. Giuseppe's opened on Telegraph Road in 2003, carrying forward the same commitment to good food, quality ingredients and treating customers like family.
Although Joe and Joann have since retired, the family tradition continues with their youngest son, Tony, and his wife, Stephanie, who still make many of the same family recipes.
A New Chapter
In 2022, Tony and Stephanie temporarily closed Giuseppe's as they prepared for a new location, an expanded menu and the next chapter of the family business.
Giuseppe's reopened in Monroe in May 2024. Today, you may even see the next generation of the family around the pizzeria, playing with dough, helping with dishes or simply growing up in the family business.
From our hand-rolled pizza dough and sliced deli meats to our mozzarella cheese blend, quality ingredients remain at the heart of what we do — just don't ask Joe for his recipes!
